How to use pOH to pH calculator?

Using the above calculator you can easily convert the pOH value to pH.

  • Enter a pOH value in the input field labeled “Enter pOH value =”.
  • Click the “Calculate pH” button.
  • The result [pH] will be displayed in the “result” section with Step by Step solution.

How to calculate pH from pOH?

pH is inversely related to pOH. Greater the pH of an aqueous solution, the lower its pOH and vice versa.

pH is related to pOH as per the equation, shown below.

∴ pH + pOH = 14

If we make pH the subject of the formula, then the above equation transforms into the equation shown below.

pH = 14 – pOH

So, if the value of pOH of the solution is known, we can find its pH by substituting the given value into the above equation.

Let’s understand this concept further by practicing with the solved examples given below.

Example of calculating pH value using “pOH to pH calculator”

Let’s say we have given the value of pOH and we need to calculate the pH value.

For example – If the pOH value = 11.23, what is the [pH] value?

As we know, the formula to convert pOH to pH is –

∴ pH = 14 – pOH

So, Just put this value of [pOH] in the calculator field, and press calculates button to get step by step solution.

∴ So, the approx pH value for the given pOH is 2.77.

Numericals based on “Converting pOH value to pH”

Convert the pOH value of 3.8 to a pH value.

To determine pH, you can use the formula given below:

⇒ pH = 14 – pOH

Given that,

⇒ pOH = 3.8

Substitute the pOH value into the formula:

∴ pH = 14 – 3.8 = 10.2

∴ pH = 10.2

A cleaning solution has a pOH of 11.5. Calculate its pH and determine whether this solution is acidic, basic, or neutral.

As the pOH of the cleaning solution is given in the question statement so we can easily find its pH by applying the equation given below.

pH = 14 – pOH

pH = 14 – 11.5 = 2.5

Result: The pH of the cleaning solution is 2.5. A low pH value i.e., below 7, while a high pOH value above 7 denotes that it is an acidic solution.

  • pH < 7 indicates an acidic solution
  • pH = 7 indicates a neutral solution
  • pH > 7 indicates a basic (alkaline) solution
