How to use pH to pOH calculator?

Using the above calculator you can easily convert the pH value to pOH.

  • Enter a pH value in the input field labeled “Enter pH value =”.
  • Click the “Calculate pOH” button.
  • The result [pOH] will be displayed in the “result” section with Step by Step solution.

How to calculate pOH from pH?

pOH is inversely related to pH. Greater the pOH of an aqueous solution, the lower its pH and vice versa.

pOH is related to pH as per the equation, shown below.

∴ pH + pOH = 14

If we make pOH the subject of the formula, then the above equation transforms into the equation shown below.

pOH = 14 – pH

So, if the value of pH of an aqueous solution is known, we can find its pOH by substituting the given value into the above equation.

formula to convert pH to pOH

Let’s understand this concept further by practicing with the solved examples given below.

Example of calculating pOH value using “pH to pOH calculator”

Let’s say we have given the value of pH and we need to calculate the pOH value.

For example – If the pH value = 2.3, what is the [pOH] value?

As we know, the formula to convert pH to pOH is –

∴ pOH = 14 – pH

So, Just put this value of [pH] in the calculator field, and press calculates button to get step by step solution.

∴ So, the approx pOH value for the given pH is 11.7.

Numericals based on “Converting pH value to pOH”

Convert the pH value of 3.8 to a pOH value.

To determine pOH, you can use the formula given below:

⇒ pOH = 14 – pH

Given that,

⇒ pH = 3.8

Substitute the pH value into the formula:

∴ pOH = 14 – 3.8 = 10.2

∴ pOH = 10.2

A cleaning solution has a pH of 11.5. Calculate its pOH and determine whether this solution is acidic, basic, or neutral.

As the pH of the cleaning solution is given in the question statement so we can easily find its pOH by applying the equation given below.

pOH = 14 – pH

 pOH = 14 – 11.5 = 2.5

Result: The pOH of the cleaning solution is 2.5. A low pOH value i.e., below 7, while a high pH value above 7 denotes that it is a basic solution.
