Kb from Ka calculator (Easily calculate Kb when Ka value given)

The formula to calculate Kb from the Ka value is –

∴ Kb = Kw/Ka

Where the value of Kw is fixed at 25°C, i.e., room temperature. Kw = 1.0 x 10-14.

How to use Kb from the Ka calculator?

Note: This calculator uses scientific notation, as most of the numerical for Ka and Kb calculations are given in the scientific form.

⇒ Scientific notation consists coefficient and an exponent. For example – If the scientific notation is 2.5 × 10-5, then the coefficient is 2.5 and the exponent is -5.

Using the above calculator you can easily calculate the Kb value from Kw and Ka values.

  • There are two input fields for entering the Ka value, one for the coefficient and one for the exponent.
  • The Kw value is displayed as read-only and cannot be changed, with a coefficient of 1.0 and an exponent(10 to the power) is -14.
  • To use the calculator, enter a coefficient and exponent for the Ka value in the corresponding input fields.

Click the “Calculate” button to perform the calculation. The result for the Kb value, including the coefficient and exponent, will be displayed in the “Result” section.

If you want to clear the fields and start a new calculation, click the “Refresh” button to clear the input fields and the result display.

How to calculate Kb from Ka?

Ka and Kb can be interconverted using a chemical entity called the water dissociation constant (Kw).

The relationship between Kb and Ka is –

Ka. Kb = Kw                        [∴ Kw = 1.0 x 10-14]

If the value of Ka is known, we can easily determine the value of Kb by making Kb the subject of the formula.

How to calculate Kb from Ka

Example of calculating Kb value using “Kb from Ka calculator”

Let’s say we have given the value of Ka and we need to calculate the Kb value.

For example – If Ka = 1.8 x 10-5, what is the Kb value?

As we know, the formula to find Kb from Ka is –

Kb = Kw/Ka                       [∴ Kw = 1.0 x 10-14]

We have, Ka = 1.8 x 10-5[Where the Coefficient is 1.8 and the exponent is -5].

So, just put the value of Ka in the respective field in the “Kb from Ka calculator” and then press calculate button.

∴ We have got the answer for the Kb value is 0.556 × 10-9, this can also be written as 5.6 x 10-10.
