If 5.0 moles of c3h8 react, how many molecules of water are formed?

The question is –

If 5.0 moles of C3H8 react, how many molecules of water are formed?

Answer:

⇒ 5 moles of C3H8 react to produce 1.20 ×1025 molecules of water.

Explanation:

Step 1: Write the balanced equation for the combustion of propane, which is –

⇒ C3H8 + 5O2 -> 3CO2 + 4H2O

Step 2: Determine the number of moles of water produced by using the coefficients in the balanced equation.

In the balanced equation, one mole of propane reacts with five moles of oxygen to produce three moles of carbon dioxide and four moles of water.

∴ So, for every 1 molecule of propane (C3H8) that reacts, 4 molecules of water (H2O) are produced.

Step 3: Multiply the number of moles of propane given in the problem (5 moles) by the number of moles of water produced per mole of propane in the balanced equation (4 moles).

This gives 5 moles * 4 moles = 20 moles of water.

Step 4: Convert moles of water to a number of molecules using Avogadro’s number.

As, 1 mole of HO contains  =  6.022 × 1023 molecules.

So, 20 moles of water will contain, (20 moles × 6.022 × 1023 molecules) = 1.20 ×1025 Molecules of H2O.

Therefore, if 5 moles of C3H8 react, 1.20 ×1025 Molecules of water (H2O) are formed.

If 5.0 moles of c3h8 react, how many molecules of water are formed
